For the past four years, the Big Bend Kayak Classic has been an opportunity for anglers to fish in the picturesque waters of Wakulla County rivers while benefitting a good cause. The 4th annual Big Bend Kayak Classic is quickly approaching, and will be held on May 6-7 in downtown St. Marks.

There will be opportunities to win prizes across several divisions, a post-tournament low country boil catered by A Taste of the Bayou, and proceeds from the tournament will go to support the Meals on Wheels program in Wakulla County. Registration is currently open and only takes a few minutes to complete, so don’t miss this incredible opportunity to engage in some great spring fishing while supporting an important organization.

Kayak fishing at its finest

Anyone who has ever traveled through Wakulla County by kayak knows that the scenery is as beautiful as the fishing is good. Anglers in the Big Bend Kayak Classic typically find several different species on the line, including trout, redfish, and bass. Anglers of all skill levels are welcome to enter, so it makes for a great day of fishing whether you’re determined to hook the biggest fish and win first prize, or you just want to spend a relaxing day on the water casting your line and knowing that you’re fishing to support a great cause.

The Big Bend Kayak Classic operates on a catch, photo, and release system, and all anglers must return to the tournament headquarters in St. Marks by 4:00 PM with their photos in order to be eligible for prizes.

Feast in downtown St. Marks while the prizes are awarded

Various prizes are available across different divisions, so there are multiple chances to walk away a winner. There’s even a special youth division for the younger anglers who want to test their mettle. You’ll have the opportunity to win state-of-the-art kayaks as well as cash prizes and other fishing gear. While the results are being tabulated, every participant will be treated to a delicious low country boil courtesy of A Taste of the Bayou, and tickets to the low country boil are available for purchase for friends and family members who aren’t registered for the tournament. Afterwards, there will be an incredible selection of cupcakes provided by Kast Net.
