Celebrate Halloween this year like you’ve never before! On October 27 from 6-9 pm, the Gulf Specimen Marine Lab and Aquarium in Panacea will host Gulf, Ghosts, and Goblins, an event featuring some of the strangest and scariest ocean life members.
Spooky Specter at the Specimen Lab
Those who are brave enough to enter the Marine Lab can take part in a Marine Creature Costume Contest, trick or treating through the aquarium, and the celebration of A Very Scary Sea. All are encouraged to dress up, especially children who can enter for free if they are wearing a costume. Admission for adults will be $9.50.
Trick-Or-Treating and Creature Meeting
If you attend Gulf, Ghosts, and Goblins, you will encounter ocean creatures that are frightening enough without a Halloween costume. From vampire squid and ghost crabs to skeleton shrimp and goblin sharks, if you don’t have thallasaphobia (fear of the sea), you will after you leave!
Wakulla County is the perfect place to learn about the different species that call Florida’s Gulf Coast home. The Gulf Specimen Marine Lab and Aquarium has been open since 1963. Since then, it has continued to grow and currently performs research, studies endangered species, and emphasizes educational programs for schools in the surrounding areas. They also encourage a hands-on approach to informing the public about the ocean ecosystem, conducting different exhibits for visitors to interact with sea life.
